Jacqueline Fernandez grew up in Bahrain, Manama. She is Sri Lankan and comes from an ethnically diverse background. Jacqueline Fernandez's mother Kim and father Elroy were both born in Malaysia. There are two older brothers and two younger brothers. The family moved to Bahrain during the 1980s because of the Lankan civil unrest and hence she was born and raised in Bahrain. After her schooling in Bahrain her family was granted an Scholarship to study at Sydney's University of Sydney, where she completed a bachelor's degree in Media and Communications in Sydney, Australia. To enhance her interest in the world of languages, cultures and languages, she was enrolled at the Berlitz schools of languages in order to study Spanish in addition to improving French and Arabic. The crown was awarded to Miss Sri Lanka 2006 for Miss Universe 2006 on March 6th, 2006 and also was a contestant at Miss Universe 2006. She entered television after winning the Miss Sri Lanka title. Her show, Lanka Business Report, covers Sri Lankan business. Padukone has a daughter with the famous badminton player Prakash Padukone. She was raised in Bangalore and was born in Copenhagen. In her teens she competed in badminton at National level competitions. She later resigned her profession in sports to become a fashion model. Padukone is of Mangalorean background, and her mother tongue is Konkani. Padukone is a village located in Kundapura Taluk of Karnataka's Udupi District. Prakash Padukone is her father as well as a former badminton pro with international recognition. Her mother is a travel agent.
